Green Team – Mawdesley : Making a difference We are pleased to announce that a new group of enthusiastic residents have just come together to help reduce its own carbon footprint and to support other residents in Mawdesley. Collectively, the group is quite knowledgeable on this subject and is keen to share what it knows, and what it’s still learning, with the rest of the village. It’s aim is to simply raise people’s awareness of the negative effects of Climate Change and to demonstrate how Mawdesley can reduce these effects by some modest investments and simple lifestyle changes. It’s aim is not to alarm or lecture anyone, but simply to encourage everyone to make a definite start and gradually make a difference. If successful, this initiative will hopefully be taken up by other villages in the area, until everyone is making an even bigger difference. Finally, for those of you who are not quite ready to save the earth, there’s also a benefit that’s closer to home - these helpful hints could reduce your energy bills and the amount of waste you need to dispose of. So, please keep an eye on Mawdesley’s web site, or study the notice boards, for further information.
So far the Team comprises
:
Peter Green from Dark Lane, who is concerned for the next generation
and keen to show, by example, what can be done in practical ways
Tom
Poole from the Post Office, who is keen to help people become more
aware of Climate Change and has a particular desire to reduce packaging
throughout the retail supply chain
Andrew Lee-Smith from Bluestone Lane, who is
very keen to learn more about ways of reducing his and our carbon
footprint
Martin Trengove from Bradshaw Lane is looking forward to reducing his
and our carbon footprints, particularly by the use of new technologies
Grahame Green from Smithy Lane, who has a long-standing record in
trying to reduce Mawdesley's environmental impact and is particularly keen on
the possibility of introducing cost-effective, ground source, heat pumps into
Mawdesley, on a fairly wide scale.
Emma
Morris from Hurst Green, is a student of the countryside, and is keen
to maintain this precious resource for future generations
Needless to
say, we are also looking forward to reducing our fuel bills and waste disposal
costs.
