"Mawdesley, nestled below Harrock Hill and on the edge of the Lancashire Plain, is a village that seems to enjoy commemorating grand occasions. As well as a Millennium Green, it also has the waymarked Jubilee Trail. The 7 mile route was devised to circle the village entirely within its boundaries. Given this stricture it will surprise the casual visitor just how varied and interesting the walk is. A leaflet compiled by J.Singleton with illustations by P.Collins describes the trail which starts at the Millennium Green and takes the reader in an anti-clockwise direction through fields and pastures and along quiet lanes. One of the many merits of this walk is that it is easy to reduce the distance at numerous exit points bringing the walker back to the village centre. Another merit is that refreshments are available in a variety of establishments on or near the route. While the trail will be enjoyed by all lovers of the countryside, it is an excellent route for new walkers whether young or old. The leaflet can be obtained from the Black Bull and Cedar Farm Galleries and other retail outlets in the village."
