Village Design Statement Progress Report June 2007 The committee has just completed its third draft of the document! And yes, it has taken us a while to get to this stage where we are ready to consult with the Parish Council and Borough Council. This statement is intended to record the unique character of our Village and hopefully have the Borough Council adopt the document in order to manage the future changes within the Village. We must acknowledge the grant made by ‘Awards for All’, facilitated by ‘Villages in Partnership’-without which we would not have been in a position to carry out such a lengthy process. So, expect to see your Village Design Statement in print before the end of the year. Ian Clayton (Chair) Following a successful photo workshop day held in April, the Planning Sub-committee of the Parish Council are now studying and reflecting on the hundred or so photos taken intended to show the characteristics of housing design, community and landscape setting of the village of Mawdesley. This study has been undertaken in order to manage future change within the village. We considered the village of Mawdesley to be unique in the region and researching into the history, development and local industry has emphasised this. Our progress is reported to the Parish Council and Chorley Borough. What’s next? The committee meet again 22nd May in the Parish Room 7.30pm to pool responses from the photo record. Hopefully, there will be news regarding a grant from The Village Partnership, to finance the continuing work and future publication of the Document. Contact us! The Mawdesley Village Planning
Committee are presently drafting the Village Design Statement, but
the most important part of the process is still to be the CONSULTATION of all
Villagers interested in the design characteristics of the buildings in
Mawdesley.
To facilitate this, members of the committee and any other
volunteers (!) will be present at the Village Show on the 9th September and at
the Family Fun Day on the Millennium Green on the 16th September.
We will be asking your opinions and showing
our photographic record. All age groups comments
are wanted. So watch for our team on those dates!
VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT WE ARE MAKING SLOW, BUT IMPRESSIVE PROGRESS! Recently we have benefited from the invaluable input of Mary Clemence of Chorley Borough Council, who has given our committee considerable help and guidance regarding the drafting of this important document. We will be represented at the ‘Renewables’ meeting at the Village Hall on 14th March, where we will be explaining our task AND asking for new members to assist us in our important task!
