Dear Friends,

As you may already know, Parish Councillor, Maggie Bell and myself are trying to set up an indoor meeting place for the youngsters of Mawdesley, for use during the winter months. This idea came out of a discussion at a recent Youth Club meeting.
Eccleston has a fantastic facility compared with Mawdesley and it may be good to correct this deficiency.
Attached is a draft leaflet, which we are planning to distribute to every home in the village, early next week.

However, before we do this we would welcome your views on this initiative and, in particular, whether you feel this is the best method of engaging with our young people ? If you do, then we also need to decide on a date for the meeting. One afternoon or evening during the Christmas break would seem a possibility, but is it the best time to catch our target audience ?

Any advice on this proposal would be appreciated. Please send any thoughts you may have to : rod.pauline@virgin.net

If you don't want to download the letter. you can read it here.

Calling all residents of Mawdesley between the ages of 11 and 18 !

Your village needs YOU !

As you will know, Mawdesley is a great little village, but you may feel it doesn’t have a lot of facilities or activities for people like you.

Now, obviously, the Parish Council can’t promise you the Earth, but we’ve been listening hard recently and, with your help, we would like to progress one of your ideas…..

How about a Drop-in Centre for week-day evenings, financed by grants and the income from selling various (non-alcoholic) refreshment and not staffed by parents ?

The idea is to provide you with somewhere you can call your own, where you can meet friends, listen to music, make plans or just chill-out ?

Now, we can’t do this on our own - why should we ?

We need you to get involved by demonstrating your support, helping us with the planning and making full use of the centre when it opens.

So, if you think we’ve hit on one of your better ideas, or we’re at least heading in the right direction, why not help us get there ?

Just join Maggie Bell and Rod Collins for an informal chat in the Village Hall on ???

If you really do want a Drop-in Centre, then drop-in and tell us about it…

Alternatively, you can tell us what else Mawdesley needs
